At Westwood Youth Soccer, we are committed to fostering a culture of respect, learning, and enjoyment for all players, coaches, referees, and families. Soccer is more than just a game—it’s an opportunity for children to grow, develop teamwork skills, and build confidence in a positive, supportive environment.
Our Mites Program (K-2) is designed to introduce young players to the game of soccer in a fun, supportive, and development-focused environment. Success at this level isn’t measured by wins and losses but by player growth, enjoyment, and sportsmanship.
We all play a role—parents, coaches, referees, and players—in fostering a positive environment where children can learn, grow, and love the game. As we come together each week, we ask everyone to keep the following in mind:
Soccer is a game.
The players are children.
Referees are human.
Mistakes will be made—by players, coaches, and referees.
Spectators, coaches, referees, and players should create a supportive environment for all.
We expect all members of our community to model and promote positive sportsmanship, ensuring that every player has the chance to learn, grow, and enjoy the game.
If an incident occurs that goes against our values of respect and fair play, it should be reported to the Westwood Youth Soccer Sportsmanship Committee. In partnership with the grade coordinators, this committee—composed of three board members —is responsible for reviewing reports, investigating concerns, and ensuring that all incidents are handled calmly, fairly, and constructively.
If you witness or experience:
Outstanding sportsmanship that deserves recognition
Unsportsmanlike behavior that needs to be addressed
Submit a Report Here: Sportsmanship Incident & Recognition Form
All reports will be reviewed confidentially and handled in accordance with our Sportsmanship Incident Procedures. Our goal is always to educate, support, and improve the experience for everyone involved.
Thank you for being a part of Westwood Youth Soccer and for helping us build a respectful, fun, and positive soccer community.
