👍 Tips before you start
Use a computer (not a mobile device) for best results
Use the SAME legal first and lst name and email for all steps — this is critical as it's what links your records together!
New coaches need to have ready:
Your driver's license number and expiration date.
A clear color head-shot photo (under 1 MB) — clear face, no hats/sunglasses, no other people visible. Returning users' photos are stored, but you'll still need one for the Abuse Prevention course.
Have questions or hit a snag? Reach out to Registrar@westwoodsoccer.org or see the help resources below
1️⃣ Register with Mass Youth Soccer ~ ⏱️ 15 mins
Covers you with liability insurance and authorizes your CORI check — FREE, done through SportsConnect
Click to start annual registration →
Returning coaches: choose 'Login with Email'. Use 'forgot password' if needed.
New coaches: click 'Create Account'. After submitting your CORI info, click 'Print Required CORI Agreement' — see red square below.
Just go through screens filling out required information. Look for the green Continue button to advance.
Do NOT 'Add New Family Member' into your Coach admin account.
Choose the row with the blue Register as Coach/Admin button
Program Organization: Select Westwood Youth Soccer (not Mass Youth Soccer).
😡Error message about a "duplicated record"? Retry and use 'Login with Username' — if it still fails, contact Sports Connect support (details below)
You get a confirmation email titled "Thank You for Registering" right away.
2️⃣ SafeSport Abuse Prevention Training ~ ⏱️ 90 min (Year 1) / 30 min (Refresher)
Required annually by Federal law for youth coaches — FREE, done through US Soccer Learning Center
Start training in the US Soccer Learning Center →
Take this and the concussion course (Step 3) within Phase 1 only — skip the Phase 2/3 modules, they're not required.
Don't pay for background screening here — that's already free via SportsConnect in Step 1.
Use the exact same Legal First and Last name and email as SportsConnect. Complete your profile fully before the course will unlock.
Year 1 is a 90+ minute core training; Years 2–4 are 30-minute refreshers (only one per year), then it repeats from Year 5.
If training won't load or won't let you renew: take it directly through SafeSport instead —
Log into SportsConnect → My Account → Certificates tab → click the SafeSport link with Enrollment Key.
Login (don't sign up) to SafeSport with your Learning Center email/password, then go to Catalog and enroll in the Core training or your next Refresher.
Matching legal name and email means your completion syncs automatically — you'll see a check mark in SportsConnect.
3️⃣ Concussion Training / Intro to Safe & Healthy Playing Environments ~ ⏱️ 30 mins
Required every two soccer years by US Soccer (dated after June 2025) — FREE, done through US Soccer Learning Center
Go to the US Soccer Learning Center → Login to your existing Learning Center account or create one now.
Use the exact same Legal First and Last name and email as SportsConnect. Profile must be complete before the course will unlock.
Navigate to Introduction to Safe and Healthy Playing Environments under Safeguarding.
If your email and legal name match SportsConnect, your completion syncs automatically.
⚽ Check your Status ~ ⏱️ 5 mins
Confirm all requirements are complete
Log into your Sports Connect account to verify all requirements show as complete.
✅ When complete, you should see checkmarks for:
☑️ SafeSport training completion
☑️ Concussion training completion
☑️ CORI Verified status
🆕 First Time Users Only — CORI ID Verification ~ ⏱️ 10 mins
MA requires a 1-time check of your submitted CORI information vs a Federal ID — FREE, done "in person" via video call or Notary
Coach credentials cannot be printed without this clearance.
You will need an electronic copy of your CORI Acknowledgment Form. It does NOT need to be signed.
Send the copy you downloaded after completing registration or login to download now.
Access your existing SportsConnect Account → this is a direct account link and is different than the registration link
Click on the Print Documents button under your picture then select Receipts & Forms on the line that says ADULT/CORI Registration to download the 2-page CORI Acknowledgment Form.
4️⃣ Get your CORI information verified one of two ways:
Video call with the registrar — email your downloaded CORI Acknowledgment form and a picture of the front of your license to registrar@westwoodsoccer.org. Include some available times and whether you prefer FaceTime or WhatsApp video.
OR
Notary Public — bring the form and your license, and sign it in front of them. Free notary services are available at Westwood Town Hall (some banks/AAA offices too). Then email a scan or photo of the notarized PDF to registrar@westwoodsoccer.org.
Don't upload the notarized form yourself — the registrar uploads a separate verification form on their end. Once that's done, the check mark appears. This only needs to happen once, ever.
