  • Goalkeeper Skill Clinics

    WYS is pleased to offer some specialized GOALKEEPER skill training sessionsThese sessions are meant to be attended by any player looking to improve his or her goalkeeping skills, which can even be ALL players on a team, especially those younger teams! Even if an older player only plays in goal occasionally, these sessions will provide a framework to help increase the comfort level with the unique skills used in goalkeeping.

    The goalie clinics will be run by John Kendall, our WYS Director of Coaching, with help from volunteer coaches and some of the WHS goalies who will be teaching the small group training. We will cover ball handling, catching, positioning, diving, and distribution.

    MUST BRING: BALL and Water bottle; Goalie gloves if you have them; Dress for the weather 

    When:  This Saturday March 28!

    Sessions:  Vary by age/gender as listed below:

     1.  10:00 – 11:00am – 3rd Grade U9 and 4th Grade U10 GIRLS  - Multi-Purpose Field

    2.  11:15 – 12:15 pm – 3rd Grade U9 and  4th Grade U10 BOYS   Flahive Field

    3.  12:30 – 1:30pm – 5th Grade U11, 6th Grade U12, and 7/8th Grade U14 GIRLS and BOYS – Flahive Field

  • Coaches Clinics
    Monday March 30, from 7:00 - 8:30pm -Thurston Gym K-2 Coaches will meet with John Kendall to review the season.
    This will be interactive on drills and instructional lessons working with John and coaches.

    Wednesday, April 1, from 7:00 - 8:30pm -Thurston Gym - Travel coaches grades 3 - 8 
    will meet to review drills and instructional items from John Kendall.

  • Coaches Meeting

    Tuesday, March 31 - Thurston

    6:00 - 7:00 pm -  K-2 Coaches who are new to program and those from last season are encourage to attend.
    New coaches will receive their equipment; old coaches will probably need ice packs etc.
    Coordinators from K-2 should be present; President; Director of Coaching, Equipment Coordinators (with equipment)

    7:00 - 8:30 pm All Travel Coaches (Grade 3 - 8) will meet in Auditorium to review Spring Season

  • Referees Meetings

    There will be referee meetings the following days.

    Choose ONE day to attend, not both.


    Thursday April 2 Senior Center

    or

    Monday April 6 Senior Center


    New referees arrive at 7:00 pm. Experienced referees arrive at 7:30 pm.

    Everyone done by 8:30 pm

    New referees should send an e-mail to the Referee Coordinator, Bruce Masi-Phelps (refereecoordinator@westwoodsoccer.org) to be put onto the active referee list.

  • Spring Soccer Clinics
    To help get ready for spring soccer, John Kendall, the WYS Director of Coaching is running some indoor soccer clinics for players and coaches. See schedule at link below.

    All clinics will be held at the Thurston Gym. Wear shin guards and indoor shoes/sneakers and bring a properly inflated BALL and a water bottle.

  • Registration
    SPRING 2015 Registration
    Players must be residents of Westwood. 

    Grades 3-8

    Late registration for the Spring 2015 season is still available for some programs. Late fees will apply. The season is 10 weeks long and begins April 11, 2015 - June 13, 2015. Travel is involved.

    Grades K-2

    If a child in Grades K through 2 played this fall season, there is No Spring Re-Registration Required, as these programs are full-year programs. If a K-2 child DID NOT play this fall, and wishes to play in Spring 2015, please contact the registrar separately at registrar@westwoodsoccer.org.

    Teams will be released for the spring season in mid to late March.

    Soccer Uniforms:  All 3rd grade-8th grade soccer uniforms are sourced through We Got Soccer on Route 1 in Foxboro. However, you can only order online at (www.wegotsoccer.com/westwood). Please allow a couple weeks for orders to be filled prior to the start of the season. You will need to specify the jersey number assigned by WYS to the player when ordering a new jersey. We Got Soccer is offering a 10% discount good on all purchases if you sign up for their rewards program. The coupon code is WESTWOODREWARDS. 

    If the WYS logo on an older jersey has peeled off due to a application defect, please bring the jersey back to WGS for a new logo application at no charge.  The problem was rectified with new uniforms purchased after 2012.
